Jyväskylä Track and Field Club
JKU is one of the leading track and field athletic clubs in Finland. The club works to enhance fysics and spirit of its members by creating chances to do sports and compete all year around. The aim is to improve every sector of sports gradually in balance. JKU invests on youth athletics, top athletics and recreational athletics as well as organizing events.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES (15 years and younger)
Youth athletics is the base of JKU. Every year aproximately 600 children do sports in athletics play school ”liikuntaleikkikoulu” (3-6 years), athletics club ”urheilukerho” (4-6 years), ahletics school ”urheilukoulu” (7-13 years) and in the training groups ”valmennusryhmä”. Sports take place at the track of Harju or at Hippos indoor hall ”Hipposhalli”.
COMPETITIONS AND EVENTS
JKU organizes every year well working high quality race events. Year 2011 it for example organizes National championships for youth of 16-17 years, Jyväskylä Games and Finlandia Marathon.

JKU, Athletics club of Jyväskylä has atheles such as high jumper Osku Torro, decathlon athlete Sami Itani, sprinter Minna Laukka, Pole vaulter Eeva Niemelä, hammer thrower Arno Laitinen and long distance runners Miika Takala, Henri Manninen and Jaakko Nieminen. Year 2010 JKU was 6th in the country competing of trophy ”Kalevan malja” which tells about the success of adult athletics in championship level of the country.
